Rest

An erratic is a piece of rock or boulder that is carried by glacial movements, from its source. It may travel a great distance before being deposited elsewhere once the ice melts. Erratic boulders maintain a uniquely foreign presence on the landscape, but because they have been in place for thousands of years, they also appear harmoniously situated in their surroundings.

The pursuit of my carreer has taken me far away from my childhood home of western Kansas, but my personal aesthetic is firmly rooted in the place of my birth. I like the concept of impermanence, suggested by the erratics. The thought that a body which appears to be so immovable, so much of a place, could actually be completely in flux and come from a great distance, delights me.
